'Love Hurts': February extends its painful streak

Love Hurts got the title right, but that’s about it. This movie was a mess, but thankfully, it’s only about 83 minutes long, so you’re not giving away too much of your life when you experience it. The plot is thin, the acting is subpar, and the production quality is lacking, making it definitely not worth a full-price movie ticket. Even for a $ 5-6 movie deal night, I can’t, in good conscience, recommend it.

I was rooting for this movie, especially considering Ke Huy Quan's potential for a strong comeback after his Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All At Once. However, he was let down by a weak script that even Lifetime would have rejected for its lack of depth and chemistry, particularly with Ariana DeBose, a shining star in 2021’s ‘West Side Story’ as Anita.

I suppose one can applaud Marshawn Lynch for getting his big-screen debut, but not even that can make it worth a trip to the cinema.
